History
Epsilon Gamma Iota, Inc. has been a Social and Service Organization for over 30 years. When the founders created the organization, they primarily wanted a way to maintain their bond and connection well beyond their college careers. Throughout the years, Epsilon Gamma Iota, Inc. has expanded its network from a small local organization to a national organization. There have been many milestones along the way that have helped propel the organization forward.
Time Line
Epsilon Gamma Iota was founded in the fall of 1984 on the campus of Prairie View A&M University On November 19, 1985 Epsilon was recognized as a social and service organization on the campus of PVAMU and the Alpha chapter was created. On June 30, 1992 Epsilon becomes incorporated. In 1997 Epsilon Alpha Graduate chapter was established in Houston, TX. On May 2, 1997 Beta undergraduate chapter was recognize on the campus of Texas Southern University in Houston, TX. On June 12, 1999 Epsilon Beta Graduate chapter was established in Dallas, TX. The Epsilon Gamma Iota, Inc. National Advisory Board (NAB) was established on September 11, 1999 On November 17, 1999 Gamma undergraduate chapter was recognize on the campus of Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX. On November 12, 2000 Delta undergraduate chapter was recognize on the campus of Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. Zeta undergraduate chapter was recognize on the campus of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. On September 23, 2001 Eta undergraduate chapter was recognize in the Tri City area of New York, NY. On April, 12, 2013 Beta undergraduate chapter was re-chartered on the campus of Texas Southern University in Houston, TX.
